Ben Beck loves working at the intersection of technology and marketing. He has been closely following the chatbot evolution from the mid-90s with A.L.I.C.E. on to the more recent improvements made in chatbot builders such as FlowXO and Ben has been featured as a chatbot expert in articles, on podcasts, and at conferences.

Ben works as a freelance marketing and investment consultant and also, as Digital Marketing Director at Kuali.

In addition to building out chatbots and other marketing automation implementations for his clients, he also enjoys working with a breadth of marketing tools, such as Marketo, Eloqua, Hubspot, SalesForce, ManyChat, ChatFuel, and Optimizely. Despite his near addiction to marketing tech, Ben also loves to get away from it all and spend time in the mountains with his wife and two boys.

Are you itching to start building your first chatbot, but not sure where to start? Do you need help navigating the already crowded chatbot ecosystem? Want to learn some chatbot best practices? In this hands-on workshop, Ben Beck (a chatbot expert who has built chatbots on all the major platforms for clients in a variety of industries) will share tips and tactics to help you get started building your first chatbot. In this workshop, you’ll learn the big differences between chatbot enabled messaging platforms (ie Skype, Slack, Facebook Messenger, Twitter). You’ll also gain the knowledge needed to decipher the key differentiators between the ever increasing selection of chatbot builders (ie, FlowXO, Bot Framework, Chatfuel, ManyChat). In addition to helping you find the best solution stack for your own chatbot adventure, this workshop will provide hands-on exercises in building your own first chatbot. Every attendee will leave the workshop having built their very own fully functional chatbot!

Pre-requisite knowledge

  • No programming experience needed.
  • A variety of chatbot builders will be covered, from point-and-click UX based builders to those that allow you to tie into advanced APIs.
  • As we will be building our first bot on the Facebook Messenger platform, all attendees should have access to a Facebook account on their laptop
