Policies: Refunds, Replacements, Privacy, Conduct

Refunds and Replacements

Our policy: No refunds. That said, sometimes life gets in the way. We get that. So if you have an emergency, illness, or other life situation that prevents you from being able to attend one of our events, let us know. We’re happy to allow you to send a replacement (perhaps a peer or co-worker) on your behalf or to defer your registration and allow you to use it as a credit toward registration at another Information Development World event.

Privacy and Personal Information

We take privacy seriously. The personal data we collect about you to process your event registration (name, workplace, address, phone, email, social media information) is used by our staff to communicate with you about the event before it takes place. We may send you text alerts and email messages, tag you in social media posts and reach you via telephone to obtain missing information or to better understand your personal preferneces—like food allergies or other accommodations. We may also use your personal data in an attempt to locate you in the event of an emergency or natural disaster during the event. And, we may make this information available in the form of a conference attendee roster provided to the sponsors.

We do not collect banking or other financial information (like credit card data). We rely on trusted third parties (EventBrite and PayPal) to process your payments in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. As a result, we do not have access to any banking or financial information about you or the account used to pay for event registration.

At the event, we may photograph or videotape portions of the show in which you may be pictured. By registering to attend our event you grant us permission to photograph and/or video tape you participating in activities at the event venue and to use those images and other representations of you in social media and other promotional materials without compensation or additional permission.

Proper Conduct

At Information Development World, we aim to provide an exceptional learning and networking experience for all. As such, we are dedicated to providing a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices. We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form.

Examples of harassment include offensive comments, verbal threats or demands, overly-sexualized images in public spaces, intimidation, stalking, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of sessions or events, and unwelcome physical contact or sexual attention. We expect all of our guests—attendees, presenters, sponsors, and volunteers—to be respectful to one another during the conference. This includes conference-related social events at off-site locations, and in related online communities and social media.

Attendees asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. Violators may be expelled from the conference without a refund, and/or banned from future events, at the discretion of Information Development World management and staff. Should you have a concern about the conduct of others, bring your concern to the attention of the event staff immediately, or contact the conference organizers here. You may also call +1-415-857-2235 to report violations.

We thank our participants for your help in keeping the event welcoming, respectful, and friendly to all.
